Best Performance Set Design Goes to....

When you talk about elaborate, well coordinated and on stage story-telling these artists have officially raised the bar in that arena. Musical Performances Live can be just as much of an experience as seeing a fantastic film on screen in 70mm/i-Max or the creation of a brand new way to experience a film in Infinity Vision. When artists get creative and intricate with their set designs it shows commitment to craft, art and allows them to tell a story for the 4-5 mins (or entire show) that we as the audience get to experience. Kudos to the artists below and those to come who are creating actual film-like sets and interactive experiences to really provide us a bang for our buck.

His & Hers (The Best Of)

Over the years we have seen some fantastic team ups and ones that we didn't expect to work but absolutely knocked it out the park when it came to the male and female team-up/opposition. His and Hers usually falls best in the Husband and Wife department so below are my 3 favorite team-ups for the best Music/Streaming/Movie duo.

Coming from the tech profession myself...I've seen the good and bad when it comes to robots, algorithm's, and technology that we may want to understand but haven't fully grasped yet. Terminator did it's best to warn us but we as a species are entirely to curious and farther along to cooperate or take heed to signs. What's even scarier? Maybe what happens in these films is the fate we are supposed to have rather than trying to prevent them. The grand design of these foreign materials and super computers were given to us by beings who likely want or need us to misuse them or 'extinct ourselves' to advance or correct what's possibly and inevitably going to replace us. The first film is an excellent and cryptic view into what that could look like and how far in the future it could take. However depending on the technology and how quickly it advances we could be speeding that process up for all we know. In Artificial Intelligence, trying to replace their child with a robot draws some serious ethical guilt from this family and this movie was a mental and technical wonder when it comes to all the alternate versions of what could be. Megan 2.0 was super fun and funny however towards the end of the film they educate you on some of the realities of what's going on in those 'Copy Centers' aka cough cough data centers. Have fun with these anti-AI (ers)

I am terrified to express my overly-excited sentiments for this film without spoiling to much as I tend to do sometimes so I'll give the scaled version. The cast...yes. Sometimes when you don't recognize anyone in the film it works greatly to a films advantage and International films that become wildly popular in America can be thanked for that. The Ring and The Grudge are the most highlighted examples of this being a successful tactic and then placing the proper American stars for a different version can work alongside that. The film itself was an amazing modern weaved with futuristic view of what it would look like if Noah's Ark happened in this day and age. What decisions would one make? How greatly would that effect the outcome? If we all perish in the end is it even worth it? Lot's of interesting questions that this stream will absolutely help answer by the end of the film.

I Will Find You

Netflix

Looks like Helly R has a new home/gig and it was just as intriguing and eventful/suspenseful as her escape from work (a Severance reference of coarse). Sam Worthington plays a scorned dad who has been locked up and thrown away the key type of left for dead for killing his son. However his sister comes to visit with some shocking and relevant updates that could turn his whole story around if given the chance to bring the information to light and set the record straight.

The Copenhagen Test

A well organized mental hack is the best way to describe this cyber thriller. All my Mr Robot fans should enjoy this awesome walk down memory lane for a secret sleeper agent who needs to figure out who he is, where he came from and how he ended up in the predicament we find him in from the beginning.

The Five Star Weekend

Peacock

fivestarweekend-art.jpg

This one feels like the complete opposite of Imperfect Women for all the most wholesome reasons. We saw the insider peek of women who can love each other but because of basic human flaw can deceive one another but this looks to be on the other side of the spectrum. A group of friends who genuinely love being around their friend, wants to help her heal and want to enjoy serenity in all the best that mother nature has to offer.

Roast My Rental

HGTV

There is nothing more delightful and home-welcoming than one of my favorite comedians roasting the f**k out of people's hard work decor. Bringing in a consultant to help make changes and bring a more appealing view of your rental property is one thing but calling in this kind of help means your location needs a comedic exorcism. If you think about it, more comedians should roast the hell out of homes so you can target your problem areas and your WTF corners.

Stuart Fails To Save The Universe

HBO Max

All the Big Bang Theory Lovers (like myself) gather your greatest comics, best ideas and multiversal moments because Stuart is coming to ruin all 3. Our favorite comic book shop owner has arrived with his spinoff and there is no shortage of cameos and uh-oh's that I am anticipating. This show still feels like a totally different show while sprinkling in some of Big Bang Theories  subtle hints and nods...what more could we crave for?

Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite actresses so let's open with that. I have never hated any horror or gothic horror film she has done (Mamma & Crimson Peak)...let's continue with that. I am a huge fan of the clayminated (a word I made up) movie Coraline and this feels like the closest Live Action version I am going to get. Plus James Wan & this trailer. I'll end with those.

Evil Dead Burn

*Top Pick*

July 10, 2026

evil_dead_burn_by_diamonddead_art_djux5md-pre.jpg

The films are in their era of glory so let those MFs Burn! Evil Dead Rise was absolutely perfect in only the way that Evil Dead can present itself. They have already confirmed the prequel (Evil Dead Wrath) which will take place before the 1980's original which should be even more exciting. This trailer with all those deadites crawling up the side of the house was all I really needed to see.

The Social Reckoning

October 2026

Screenshot 2026-07-31 at 12.36.03 PM.png

The Social Network sits comfortably in my top 20 favorite films of all time for multiple reasons and it looks like this has potential to sit snuggly beside it. The cast screams Oscar worthy and the dialoge (one of my fav things from the first film) is another positive nudge. Jeremy AW will no doubt and not purposely take all the shine I can see that now but I must give my 1 drawback (you knew I would). I think Jesse Eisenberg as Mark was one of the most accurate and well casted decisions in cinema at the time it released and it breaks my heart that he isn't reprising his role but I also understand his reasoning for not doing so. That being said, I stated my piece and am also ready to give Jeremy Strong a chance but I would have loved for Jesse to return (he is still the appropriate age and look for his same character if he had aged).

Ice Cream Man

August 2026

MV5BZWMxMzRhY2YtYzNlNC00OTdjLWFmODgtMTU0ODc0NmQ1OWI3XkEyXkFqcGc_._V1_.jpg

This pick is a HUGE gamble for me but honestly I'm super interested in this one. Eli Roth is a superb director and this is actually one of my favorite b-list OG horror films so with those 2 elements I'll add this one. It's also coming out my Birthday month so let's hope this resonates well with this generation and is the sweet treat that cinema needs.

Insidious Out Of The Further

August 2026

Screenshot 2026-07-31 at 12.32.41 PM.png

I tell ya, James Wan really knows how to trap my ass with things he knows I like. The last 2 Insidious films were meh (even the one with the OG cast was decent) but the prime films live in the first 3. Now with that being said there have been franchises who have gone plenty of films being mediocre or meh that have triumphed in a later unexpected film. My greatest example of this was actually a different Wan contributed film with Saw. They beat that franchise to the depths of hell but Saw X was immaculate even after 6 WTF's in between. This however does have 2 elements that draw me back...or further? (see what I did there). Those creatures coming out of the further and into the real world...Yes Please. My girl from Bly Manor being the lead in the film? Total Win for me... so I will tip-toe by the Willow Trees and back to the theaters to continue honoring one of my favorite films/directors/creators.

The End of Oak Street

August 2026

Screenshot 2026-06-30 at 4.05.40 PM.png

I love that Hollywood is taking a few gambles on original stories and I'm hoping this one falls into that category. This is another one of those films where I'm not to sure what to expect but I'm allured by the cast, poster and trailer. Anne has been having quite the 2026 and what's nice is that she is having a diverse 2026. We get some mystery with this one and an element that I always love; Big scary monsters.
