Best Performance Set Design Goes to....

When you talk about elaborate, well coordinated and on stage story-telling these artists have officially raised the bar in that arena. Musical Performances Live can be just as much of an experience as seeing a fantastic film on screen in 70mm/i-Max or the creation of a brand new way to experience a film in Infinity Vision. When artists get creative and intricate with their set designs it shows commitment to craft, art and allows them to tell a story for the 4-5 mins (or entire show) that we as the audience get to experience. Kudos to the artists below and those to come who are creating actual film-like sets and interactive experiences to really provide us a bang for our buck.

It Was All A Teen Dream

You remember when you were in High-School and all of life's problems just seemed so big? Popularity, Looks, Grades, Boys, Girls....well guess what it all gets so much worse after that because the internet was enhanced :-) Here is a School Year Book of the top 10 shows and movies that remind us life was so much more easy back then.

His & Hers (The Best Of)

Over the years we have seen some fantastic team ups and ones that we didn't expect to work but absolutely knocked it out the park when it came to the male and female team-up/opposition. His and Hers usually falls best in the Husband and Wife department so below are my 3 favorite team-ups for the best Music/Streaming/Movie duo.

Coming from the tech profession myself...I've seen the good and bad when it comes to robots, algorithm's, and technology that we may want to understand but haven't fully grasped yet. Terminator did it's best to warn us but we as a species are entirely to curious and farther along to cooperate or take heed to signs. What's even scarier? Maybe what happens in these films is the fate we are supposed to have rather than trying to prevent them. The grand design of these foreign materials and super computers were given to us by beings who likely want or need us to misuse them or 'extinct ourselves' to advance or correct what's possibly and inevitably going to replace us. The first film is an excellent and cryptic view into what that could look like and how far in the future it could take. However depending on the technology and how quickly it advances we could be speeding that process up for all we know. In Artificial Intelligence, trying to replace their child with a robot draws some serious ethical guilt from this family and this movie was a mental and technical wonder when it comes to all the alternate versions of what could be. Megan 2.0 was super fun and funny however towards the end of the film they educate you on some of the realities of what's going on in those 'Copy Centers' aka cough cough data centers. Have fun with these anti-AI (ers)

A rolodex of hits and music videos that puts him with some of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers (but you know for hip-hop...wait why is that not a thing? Hard Rock can we make that happen? Or is someone just going to have to invent a Hip-Hop Legends Hotel?) Regardless of that thought, not only is he my favorite rapper but I just love when he has a story to tell and bringing in Rick to help illustrate it seems like a great collab. 99 problems has to be one of the best beats in industry standards so kudos for plucking the man who helped create it (also have to add Encore/Numb to that Rock-Hop Banger list). I'm a lover of artists who can master it all while still staying true to their craft (every genre of music that is) and i'm positive this documentary will capture the essence of my favorite rapper being able to capture magic in a bottle for decades before and more to come.

A Different World

Netflix

ems.jpg

Another lovely dip into the Nostalgia pool for this one, the trailer captures a perfectly portaled show from my youth that was epic. Keeping all the same (and best) cast from the original while recruiting fresh new talent for 2026 will always be the right recipe for the original fans and new generation to follow. Transitioning from one generation to another is always an entertaining task and when a show like this can do that successfully everyone wins in the end. I'm excited to head back to Hillman.

Wonka's The Golden Ticket

Netflix

Screenshot 2026-08-30 at 4.31.43 PM.png

Someone in the comments brought up an excellent point when it comes to this series: The power of this film for me specifically was the positive message and deep meaning behind humility, being a good person and believing in yourself. This film still sits as my favorite film of all time for all the reasons you can watch the film and go to the all-time list and read. This reality show warps all of the wholesome and goodness from the film in making the Golden Ticket Prize actual money to win with no real morale behind it. For that I will take away some happy points and agree with the comments on that front. BUT the concept for the show is actually genius and does make for a great reality show plot-point. More importantly over everything I'm going to watch the show no doubt but for a different reason than "Who wins the prize and the outcome of the show". Netflix House is a real LIVE experience (I should not be admitting this lmao but I will so here it goes) If this show does well enough and can pull off a good to great streaming viewing I could get this in real life (aka they would make this an experience at Netflix House locations across the country) and that idea alone makes me want to see what that could look like. America don't mess this up for me......lmao

The Five Star Weekend

Peacock

fivestarweekend-art.jpg

This one feels like the complete opposite of Imperfect Women for all the most wholesome reasons. We saw the insider peek of women who can love each other but because of basic human flaw can deceive one another but this looks to be on the other side of the spectrum. A group of friends who genuinely love being around their friend, wants to help her heal and want to enjoy serenity in all the best that mother nature has to offer.

Roast My Rental

HGTV

There is nothing more delightful and home-welcoming than one of my favorite comedians roasting the f**k out of people's hard work decor. Bringing in a consultant to help make changes and bring a more appealing view of your rental property is one thing but calling in this kind of help means your location needs a comedic exorcism. If you think about it, more comedians should roast the hell out of homes so you can target your problem areas and your WTF corners.

Stuart Fails To Save The Universe

HBO Max

All the Big Bang Theory Lovers (like myself) gather your greatest comics, best ideas and multiversal moments because Stuart is coming to ruin all 3. Our favorite comic book shop owner has arrived with his spinoff and there is no shortage of cameos and uh-oh's that I am anticipating. This show still feels like a totally different show while sprinkling in some of Big Bang Theories  subtle hints and nods...what more could we crave for?

Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite actresses so let's open with that. I have never hated any horror or gothic horror film she has done (Mamma & Crimson Peak)...let's continue with that. I am a huge fan of the clayminated (a word I made up) movie Coraline and this feels like the closest Live Action version I am going to get. Plus James Wan & this trailer. I'll end with those.

Dune Part 3

*Top Pick*

Dec 18, 2026

Screenshot 2026-08-31 at 11.27.54 AM.png

It's safe to say this film series is this generation's Lord of the Rings/Star Wars fantasy-style storytelling and boy are they telling a great story. The first one setup the story and takes some mental strength to get through...the second was legendary. The cast is flawless which goes without saying but it feels like this year (and a little of last) did all of them even more justice at the box office. This is one of those films that has to be seen in the proper format in order to get the full scale and real cost for the money to enjoy properly. It would be like the Mona Lisa just laying in the back alley of Paris if we couldn't see her in the Lourve ya know?

The Social Reckoning

October 2026

Screenshot 2026-07-31 at 12.36.03 PM.png

The Social Network sits comfortably in my top 20 favorite films of all time for multiple reasons and it looks like this has potential to sit snuggly beside it. The cast screams Oscar worthy and the dialoge (one of my fav things from the first film) is another positive nudge. Jeremy AW will no doubt and not purposely take all the shine I can see that now but I must give my 1 drawback (you knew I would). I think Jesse Eisenberg as Mark was one of the most accurate and well casted decisions in cinema at the time it released and it breaks my heart that he isn't reprising his role but I also understand his reasoning for not doing so. That being said, I stated my piece and am also ready to give Jeremy Strong a chance but I would have loved for Jesse to return (he is still the appropriate age and look for his same character if he had aged).

Primetime

September 2026

MV5BYjAwYmE4YWQtNjFlNi00NjZlLWJlMTItNThhZGFjNGIwNDQ1XkEyXkFqcGc_._V1_.jpg

To Catch a Predator was one of the biggest shows of it's time likely for all the wrong reasons but still it was huge. It will be interesting to see this converted into film form but if it's anything like it's sister film, Bombshell, it will spill all the secrets and expose all the rot in the attic. The country loves a good rotting corpse, we've seen it all to much.

Insidious Out Of The Further

August 2026

Screenshot 2026-07-31 at 12.32.41 PM.png

I tell ya, James Wan really knows how to trap my ass with things he knows I like. The last 2 Insidious films were meh (even the one with the OG cast was decent) but the prime films live in the first 3. Now with that being said there have been franchises who have gone plenty of films being mediocre or meh that have triumphed in a later unexpected film. My greatest example of this was actually a different Wan contributed film with Saw. They beat that franchise to the depths of hell but Saw X was immaculate even after 6 WTF's in between. This however does have 2 elements that draw me back...or further? (see what I did there). Those creatures coming out of the further and into the real world...Yes Please. My girl from Bly Manor being the lead in the film? Total Win for me... so I will tip-toe by the Willow Trees and back to the theaters to continue honoring one of my favorite films/directors/creators.

Street Fighter

October 2026

*IMAX/Screen X/4DX Worthy*

Screenshot 2026-08-31 at 11.30.23 AM.png

Granted the excitement level is nowhere near what it was for Mortal Kombat 2 BUT sadly Street Fighter did the exact thing right that MK2 did wrong. I thought it was a massive mistake not to release last October for MK and they felt the heat with that decision because it had to compete with Michael and that film was a flawless victory win for the year. MK2 was absolutely perfect and would not have had to compete with anything if it came out during the right month. Now Street Fighter said hmm let's see what that scenerio would look like and picked a great time to release. MK 2 waited to long and Street Fighter picked the perfect time, plus both video-game to film adaptations were my favorite video games (along with x-men) personally. The trailer is 100% true to how I would want an updated version to look (RIP to Raul Julia for his version) and admittedly Vega is always my go-to character in the game. 50 i'm interested to see your version of Bal-rog and I already feel like Blanka will be my favorite in the film. I'm ready and I'm set for this one.
