Humanity Impact Movies (Top 10)
Honorable/Inspirational Mention

10. Downsizing

Shrinking down the population and all of our resources to create sustainable living....tell me more. I really enjoyed this film not just because I think it's where the future is headed but Matt Damon always gives a memorable performance in his movies (he will end up on this list again). The ending of the film is also very lovely and gives the viewer a sense of peace and relief.
Another game-changer of it's time, Minority Report was a huge winner in my book about 10-15 mins in. Pre-crime is an unthinkable concept that has half truth and half WTF mixed together to create this excellent film. Arresting people for pre-meditation based off of some gifted teens kept in a chamber....you gotta see it to believe it.
9. Minority Report

8. OLD

7. The Day the Earth Stood Still
What exactly would we do as a species if an entity like this thing came to our planet to harvest it and exterminate us? Not a damn thing is the real answer but this remake does paint an illustrious picture of what could be. Choosing Keanu as the alien seems fitting as I do believe he is one of the hybrids that lives here but besides that fact, looking within as a human race could change the minds of the ones who watch over us....at least let's hope so.

6. The Pursuit of Happyness

One of my absolute favorite inspiring movies, Will Smith did an EXCEPTIONAL job bringing Chris Gardner's story to life. The story of a man who will stop at nothing to ensure the success and happiness of his family, Chris goes through hell and high-waters in this entire film. The scene in the subway bathroom and in line at glad homeless shelter will do something to your mind that will force you to look within.
This one is going to take some extra care because it involves some concepts that adults may not be ready for but their kids are. This one deals with making difficult decisions for the next generation and paying attention to the clues from the past to understand where the evolution of our future is headed.
5. Knowing

4. Interstellar

The power of guilt, random choices and being at the right (or wrong) place at the exact moment you're there. Devil was one of my top choices because it's a concept that is repeated daily by humanity. Some people choose to see coincidence and others choose to believe in miraculous incidence, no matter which you choose to pick there is always 2 forces ready to usher in the final result.
3. Devil

2. Hereafter

It was tough picking between this one and the number one for top humanity impact film because this one is one of the most powerful on this list. 3 people in 3 different parts of the globe dealing with 3 of the most powerful concepts known to man; Loss/Intuition/Near Death Experience. This film brings together a set of random characters to the same destination; Hope.
If we are talking true impact to humanity I don't think it gets any bigger than I Am Legend. This movie presents a cure for cancer gone horribly wrong and what it looks like for a man to stand alone against isolation and some pretty bad ass zombie/deformed survivors. The movie has huge heart, signs to pay attention to and an incredibly smart scientist who is doing everything in his human power to bring back a world he so desperately needs.
