Ash's All Time Animation T.V./Film

Honorable Mention Films

UP

Ok I have a tendency to be too honest sometimes so I'm not going to stop that now. The first 20 mins of up is INCREDIBLE and was completely unexpected when I first saw it. What they did to my girl Ellie will never be ok with me and this movie will never be forgiven for that. I loved the travel and ambitious nature of Carl but I must say, once they hit South America I completely zone out. The second half of the movie is utterly unwatchable for me but the movie as a whole and the first half of the film is legendary.

Zootopia

Zootopia deals with a subject matter that has been happening since the dawn of time: Discrimination; but in this instance for animals. Disney always has a clever and brave way of taking real life and mature subjects and making them watchable and digestible for children. The main characters are my absolute favorites and the Sloth scene cracks me up every time.

Top 5 Animated Movies

5. Wreck-It-Ralph

I enjoyed the second Wreck-It-Ralph more than the first one but the first one made me love the franchise in general. They took all of our favorite video games as kids and put them into a fun and love-able movie. However the second movie had one of my favorite scenes in animated movies with the Disney Princess spoof and Venelope.

4. Space Jam

Man I remember this era and movie very vividly....The Looney Toons were LIFE during this time and Michael Jordan was always and will always be the greatest. The fact that Hollywood mashed these two things together with no conceivable idea if they would work or not was a movie miracle. As a kid my favorite thing to do was visit the WB store and buy Looney Tunes merch but my other biggest favorite was walking through Marvin the Martians space room in the store..."Your biological clock is ticking" (I'm just hoping someone else remembers hearing that). Overall this movie was the GOAT of it's time.

3. Hotel Transylvania (franchise)

*Special kudos/acknowledgement for having all movies in the franchise being awesome films*

I mean it's an animated film with monsters...it's got Ashley written all over it. Fun with a cartoon Addams Family vibe but with a bit more adult themed content. Mavis' evolution through the series of films is so magical to watch and her whole family is just so charmingly frightful. The 3rd film where they go on the cruise is probably my top choice for the franchise and I think the franchise would make a great children's theme haunted house for anyone who would dare create such a fabulous thing.

2. Frozen

*Special kudos/acknowledgement for having all movies in the franchise being awesome films*

Frozen has one of the dearest places in my animated heart for MANY reasons. 'Let It Go' is one of the most popular Disney songs of all time and broke to many records to count when it came out. This was the first Disney Film to not oversaturate the idea of needing a Prince to save you but to rely on the love and kinship of sisterhood and siblings. Olaf was the Grogu and Baby groot of his time and visually the film was stunning and enchanting. What gave this movie/franchise even more kudos and cool points was the rides created at all the Disney Parks around the world that brought Arendelle to life. I waited 6 f**king hours at Epcot on New Years Eve when this ride was debuted and flew across the globe to experience real life Arendelle in Hong Kong & Tokyo so it's safe to say I'm a mega fan who wants to see these sisters flourish.

1. Despicable Me

First off, any time Agnes opens her mouth I want to melt (she's so stinking cute) and the originality level of this film was off the charts. It's probably the bad guy that lives inside of me that just adores this franchise. Gru being an international mega spy with all of the gadgets and gizmo's one could dream of but still being a delightful dad who has a heart of gold when it comes to his girls (now including his wife) is the best. Oh and well duh Minions are just about the best thing on planet earth. Also the Minions ride at Universal Studios and Minions land in Osaka Universal Studios are again the coolest additions to an amazing franchise.

Honorable Mention Shows

Ahh Real Monsters

Tiny Toons

Top 5 Animated T.V. Shows

5.Carmen San Diego / Looney Toons

Watching Carmen Sandiego as a kid inspired me to become an International Bad ass in real life so thanks Carmen for laying out the path for my future. Looney Tunes played everyday at my babysitters house while I awaited for my mom to pick me up after work and made me fall in love with Bugs & Daffy.

4. Animaniacs / The Jetsons

I have no clue what species the Animaniacs are but who cares? This show was EVERYTHING and well actually still is. They revived it and brought it back to Hulu so this version was a bit more updated but they also are guilty for bringing us the masterminds Pinky & The Brain. This show should be studied on every level for greatness. Switching Planets, we all secretly wished we would be living in The Jetsons era by now....I mean Elon Musk is working on it but ya know humans and evolution takes time, maybe even ions at this point.

3. Doug / The Critic

Doug was the playbook for every teenager in high school (girl or boy) and the best part about the show was that people were blue and green and orange so no one felt left out. The Critic is an *Adult themed* cartoon from the producers of one of the best animated shows of all time (The Simpsons). These group of guys were daring enough to take animation and blaze the trail for adult and inappropriate cartoons on network television and we all are so grateful for them. Jay is a reflection of me when I go to see movies and his personal life will always warm your heart...once he finally gets it together.

2. Rocko's Modern Life / Daria

If Seinfield was converted into a cartoon it would be this show. Real life, every day situations happening to this wallaby in O-town was the highlight of my Nick-Toon days. My 2 favorite episodes include; R-E-C-Y-C-L-E / C-O-N-S-E-R-V-E / don't you P-O-L-L-U-T-E or else you're gonna get what you deserve! And the episode where Rocko's car gets sent to the impound lot. Now Daria....I mean they made a show about how I acted in real life as a teenage girl at the time so that was just everything to me.

1. Hey Arnold / Family Guy

Hey Arnold was one of my favorite cartoons ever created and I'm not really sure why. Escapades of this inner-city NYC kid and his best friends were (and still is) exactly what I love to see. There is something about this show I can't really pinpoint but I love every single episode and every teen on the planet wishes they could have Arnold's room. Family Guy is offensive to every age, gender, ethnicity and person alive; which makes it the greatest cartoon on television along with The Simpsons & South Park.
